Master Marang, 26, born in Wailbalun village.
He first went fishing when he was 17 years old with his father to the south.
“My dad is the best fisherman in the world.” he added " all of the crew’s skill combined is no match for my father. He is still the best fisherman he knows". He has a very close relationship with his father. " fisherman who bomb tuna are not fishermen. They have no brain at all".
The boat is managed by him and his two brothers, Kenzu, whom he said is a very happy kind of person, who always comes out with phrase like “live today for today. Don’t worry about tomorrow”. The second brother is Yos and then Master. Master is very proud of his younger brother, who is studying French literature in Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Central Java. But for this younger brother and sister, he wishes them to have a better life in the future and work in a big company.
He used to have a dream to be a pilot and wanted to go to the moon, but becoming a fisherman blurs that dream. If he got a chance to pursue this dream, he would like to live it once again.
He almost died once. The first one was when he went fishing with his father and the motor of the boat died. They ended up floating away further from land and his father told him to just jump and swim to the nearest land which was very far away, like more than 5 kilometres away. He decided to stay and fix the engine, without any professional experience before. After 3 hours, he succeed and they managed to make it home together, 21st December 2011.
